IC

NAME: Akira Kurusu
AGE: 16-17 (I'd like to have him as 17 if possible considering his canon point is after the hc birthday I have for him + chances are very high his birthday already passed since his canon point is at the end of the school year, but it's totally fine if not)
CANON: Persona 5 Royal
CANON POINT: post-canon

ABILITIES: Throughout the Persona series, Personas themselves are generally beings that are a person's personality and feelings given form, but each one manifests a little bit differently throughout the games. In 5/Royal, Persona users harness the painful feelings of being taken advantage of, or of others/themselves being wronged, and rebel against it - that form is their "rebellious heart", so to speak. Akira is a unique Persona user because he's a "Wild Card", capable of using multiple Personas (unlike most, who are only capable of using one). I've linked the page of at least Arsène, the Persona that's considered his true one, and whose skills I'll briefly list below:
  • Eiha: Light curse damage to one target.
  • Cleave: Light Physical damage to one target (but injures himself slightly to use).
  • Sukunda: Decrease Agility of to one target for a short time.
  • Dream Needle: Light Gun damage and a medium chance to inflict Sleep on one target (but injures himself slight to use; more damaging than Cleave).
  • Adverse Resolve: Increases Critical rate when surrounded.
  • If it's alright I'd like him to only have Arséne or just a few Personas instead of the 200+ he has access to, but I'm fine with whatever seems appropriate!

    VICES:
Sees the forest for the trees: Akira has a tendency to miss what's right in front of him. While he does tend to be a more detail-oriented person when it comes to scheduling and work, the issues that he struggles with the most are those of a more interpersonal nature (notable examples of these would be missing how Morgana is bothered right before the Hawaii trip, or looking the other way from any doubts he might've had about Igor). It seems contradictory when he's also a person that spends a lot of time listening to others and being very observant of them, but enough details can distract him from something that's about to become a big problem.
Grey Morality: Akira, for the most part, tries to be a good person, but how good he strives to be doesn't change the fact that he would have easily accepted it if Kamoshida died during his change of heart. Though the Phantom Thieves have had a "no killing" policy since their first successful Change of Heart, Akira himself is probably the closest to morally gray amongst his friends. Even his own Persona Arsène, essentially a reflection of Akira's heart, calls it as such during his Awakening: "Thou who art willing to perform all sacrilegious acts for thine own justice!" His justice can be, and often is, a positive trait - but the way he wields it isn't always as pure as it could be.
Withdrawn: Though more open at his current canon point, Akira can still be quite reticent, especially when it comes to things relating to himself. It seems a little paradoxical when he's become something of a social butterfly, but he mostly expresses that in listening; when it comes to speaking, about himself or otherwise, he's still a very quiet and reserved person. It's a little easier to get around if you befriend him and earn his trust, but that trust is something very hard-won. Even with friends, it can take a long time before he starts to share little bits and pieces, and longer still before he lets down some of his walls and masks.
    VIRTUES:
Justice: While it has its times that he wields it in a less righteous way (as seen with the "grey morality" above), oftentimes Akira's justice can be a good thing. He sticks firmly to his own moral code, but it's one that hates those with power taking advantage of the vulnerable. Someone else being put into a position similar to Akira's was even the catalyst for him becoming a Phantom Thief, making it a goal to take down anyone using their money or position to take advantage of others.
Good works: Sometimes he can be a little too selfless about it, but a big portion of Akira's probation is spent on doing things for others. Favors here and there, helping out at one of his many part-time jobs, or just being the sounding board that others need - nothing is too big or too small if he can be of use to someone. Sometimes it strays into people pleasing tendencies, but Akira genuinely thrives on doing what he can to help others.
Charismatic: It's a quiet sort of charisma, but Akira has a magnetic sort of pull to him that attracts the rest of the Phantom Thieves one at a time, willing to plunge into danger not only for their joint cause, but for him as a leader as well. Sometimes they may disagree, but they respect him enough to listen when he weighs in on a discussion, and follow his orders in combat without batting an eye. Warm, encouraging, diffusing - these are some of the ways that Akira leads, both gentle and firm at once.

    SURVEY

▶ I REGULARLY MAKE NEW FRIENDS.
▷ 2 - Though it's unknown how he was back in his hometown, Akira kept to himself a lot when first arriving at Tokyo. At the point of his life that he's currently at, he's opened up far more and has become something of a mild social butterfly.

▶ SEEING OTHER PEOPLE CRY MAKES ME WANT TO CRY TOO.
▷ 4 - Generally, it's difficult for something to move Akira to tears even if it's something that's hurt him directly. While he would certainly feel sympathetic and commiserate with someone over what's made them cry, but the chances of Akira himself crying are still very low.

▶ I OFTEN MAKE A BACKUP PLAN FOR A BACKUP PLAN.
▷ 1 - Akira is one to plan for multiple things going wrong and keep the escape route in mind at all times for a quick getaway. Every once in a while something will slip through the cracks since he's only human, but he plans for as much as possible.

▶ I USUALLY STAY CALM, EVEN WHEN UNDER A LOT OF PRESSURE.
▷ 2 - Akira's something of a pillar, unmoving even in the face of threat or danger, so it takes a lot for throw him out of that. The times that he loses his cool are few and far between.

    ▶ I AM VERY SENTIMENTAL.
▷ 2 - He treasures all of the experiences that he's gotten to have in Tokyo, keeping every gift and trinket that he's ever received from the people he's met during his time there. Additionally, one of the final bad endings in Royal can occur because of Akira's sentimentality.

▶ EVEN A SMALL MISTAKE CAN CAUSE ME TO DOUBT MY OVERALL ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE.
▷ 4 - Sometimes his mind will longer on mistakes he's made, but Akira tends to bounce back quickly and not linger on what he's done wrong. If anything, it's a lesson of how to approach things better the next time.

▶ I AM MORE INCLINED TO FOLLOW MY HEAD THAN MY HEART.
▷ 3 - It feels best to place Akira in the middle for this one, as he is often governed by both feelings and logic. It's his heart that points him in the direction of awakening his Persona, but he'd regularly been the tactician of the Phantom Thieves until Makoto joined (and sometimes after as well).

▶ I AM PRONE TO WORRYING THAT THINGS WILL TAKE A TURN FOR THE WORSE.
▷ 4 - Akira doesn't linger on those types of thoughts overly much. Normally his approach is that he'll plan for contingencies, but if there's a problem unforeseen, it can be dealt with when it crops up.

▶ I ENJOY WATCHING PEOPLE ARGUE.
▷ 3 - It depends on the type of argument, so I've placed it in the middle. Akira can enjoy both watching or partaking in a good debate, because that's mentally stimulating for him. However, an argument for petty reasons isn't something that he really cares for, and he's more likely to diffuse it or wander off til the arguing parties have cooled off than watch it for fun.

▶ I TEND TO AVOID DRAWING ATTENTION TO MYSELF.
▷ 3 - Another that would be dependent on varying factors. While Akira's something of a showoff, especially in the Metaverse, he tends to lean into those behaviors more with people he already knows or wants to get a rise out of. Otherwise, with strangers or people he holds a lot of respect for (such as Sojiro), he leans into being more reserved and keeping his head down.

▶ I OFTEN DO THINGS AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT.
▷ 5 - Akira's more of a planner than one to put things off to the end. Even if he has a rare instance of laziness, he gets things done in a timely manner.

▶ I FIND IT EASY TO EMPATHIZE WITH A PERSON WHOSE EXPERIENCES ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM MINE.
▷ 1 - A good deal of Akira's time in Tokyo is spent being an ear to different people and hearing them out about their differing experiences, so at this point it's an area he feels very comfortable in.

▶ I BECOME BORED OR LOSE INTEREST WHEN THE DISCUSSION GETS HIGHLY THEORETICAL.
▷ 5 - A conversation like that is intriguing rather than boring. For Akira, even if it isn't an area that he understands very well, he enjoys things that get his mind working enough that he'll do his best to learn.

    ▶ I RARELY FEEL INSECURE.
▷ 4 - On occasion, there can be senses of "I should choose my words carefully" or wondering if he's made the right decision. But for the most part, Akira is a person that's confident in the decisions he makes and how he is as a person.

▶ I AM STILL BOTHERED BY MISTAKES I MADE A LONG TIME AGO.
▷ 3 - Another answer that would be situational, since it's less likely that Akira would be bothered by a score on homework that could be made up later or a slipup during an infiltration that didn't result in any egregious injuries. Mistakes that have long-lasting consequences, such as someone's injury or death, are things that would be more likely to linger with him.

SUIT REQUESTS: Honestly all of the suits sound super fun, but if I had to choose it would probably be either Hearts for bringing out all of the emotions he'd rather keep locked up tight, or Diamonds just for the fun horny option.
    RANK REQUESTS: Random please!
